The board of OIL has approved the setting up of a polypropylene unit and its associated facilities at Numaligarh at an estimated capital cost of Rs 65.55 billion. The project involves capacity expansion of the Numaligarh refinery in Assam from 3 mtpa to 9 mtpa by setting up a crude oil pipeline from Paradip port in Odisha to Numaligarh in Assam, and a product pipeline from Numaligarh in Assam to the Siliguri marketing terminal in West Bengal. Technip India has been appointed as the project management consultant for the project.
