The state government is also planning to develop 24 townships, and agricultural and industrial hubs along the corridor. Nagpur Mumbai Super Communication Expressway Limited, an SPV of MSRDC, has awarded the project in 16 packages to 13 contractors. The SPV has achieved financial closure for the project. In December 2019, the state government decided to infuse an additional share capital of Rs 35 billion into the project. As of July 2020, about 40 per cent work has been completed on the project. MSRDC is planning to operationalise the 623 km Igatpuri-Nagpur stretch of the expressway by December 2021.
