Subansiri Lower is the single largest HEP in India so far. A run-of-the-river project, it will be located across the twin states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The project was stuck for eight years (from 2011 to 2019) due to various issues including agitation by activists owing to its environmental impact. However, a judgment by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) removed all hurdles and work has resumed since October 2019. The project comprises eight units of 250 MW each, to be commissioned in a phased manner by 2024-25. W
