Centre inaugurates Motihari-Amlekhgunj product pipeline

The central government inaugurated the Motihari-Amlekhgunj product pipeline project on September 10, 2019. IOCL had completed the construction work on the project in July this year. The project involved laying a 10.75 inch outside diameter and 68.9 km long petroleum product pipeline from IOCL’s proposed station at Motihari (Bihar) to Nepal Oil Corporation Limited’s existing marketing terminal at Amlekhganj (Nepal). The project has a design throughput capacity of 2 mtpa. Of the total length, 32.7 km of pipeline will be laid in India and 36.2 km in Nepal. The project also involves revamping of the Amlekhganj terminal, including maintenance of four existing petroleum storage tanks.
