The central government has laid foundation stones for six projects in Uttar Pradesh under the Namami Gange programme. Of these, four projects are being implemented in Mathura while two are in Agra. The scope of work involves setting up of integrated sewerage infrastructure for Mathura city along with reuse of treated sewage water at the Mathura refinery (at a cost of Rs 4.6 billion); rehabilitation of sewerage infrastructure and augmentation/upgradation of an STP in Vrindavan (Rs 338.2 million); cleaning of 27 ghats in Mathura (Rs 36 million); upgradation of existing infrastructure of a common effluent treatment plant for textile printing units in the Mathura industrial area (Rs 138.7 million); comprehensive sewerage scheme of 176 mld capacity for Agra on a one city, one operator approach (Rs 8.57 billion); and construction of a sewerage network in the western zone under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Rs 3.54 billion).
