NTPC identifies three sites for planned nuclear capacity addition

Reportedly, NTPC Limited has identified three locations in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha for potential development of nuclear power plants. The plan forms part of the company’s broader roadmap to build up to 30 GW of nuclear capacity across 14 states by 2047.

The company has submitted detailed feasibility reports for the three locations to the Atomic Energy Commission and is awaiting approval. If approved, the proposed sites could each support between 2 GW and 4 GW of nuclear capacity. Further, for the proposed projects, the company is also evaluating collaborations with international nuclear technology providers, including Holtec International, Westinghouse, Rosatom and EDF, for pressurised water reactor technology.
