Chief minister of Tamil Nadu has announced the establishment of semiconductor and electronics manufacturing park at Maduramangalam in Kancheepuram district, with an investment of Rs 1.75 billion through the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT).
Making a suo motu statement in the state assembly on August 31, 2026, the chief minister said the initiative is aimed at attracting investments into the semiconductor industry and strengthening Tamil Nadu’s role in the sector.
The proposed park will include a research and development facility designed to global standards to support the setting up of new semiconductor manufacturing units. The project is expected to attract investments of around Rs 20 billion and generate direct and indirect employment for approximately 5,000 people.
The minister also announced the development of a Coimbatore FinTech Hub under the public-private partnership model at an estimated cost of Rs 4 billion through the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). The facility will focus on promoting digital financial services and FinTech innovation, and will include office spaces, laboratories and skill development and training facilities. The hub is also expected to support high-quality employment and attract international investment into Coimbatore’s FinTech ecosystem.
In another announcement, the state government said it would establish a Multi-Modal Logistics Hub in the Tiruchi region based on a project report prepared by TIDCO. The facility is intended to strengthen logistics infrastructure and support investment in Tiruchi and surrounding areas, which have a significant industrial base and a large presence of small and medium-sized enterprises.
