National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has launched five 1,360 mt portal beams in Amdavad-Vadodara section at Maninagar in Ahmedabad, Gujarat for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (HSR) Corridor Project. The launching sequence was executed on April 8, 13, 19, 24, and 29, 2026.
A total of five portal beams were successfully launched within a span of just 22 days, demonstrating rapid execution and efficient project management. The beams, each weighing between 1170 MT and 1360 MT, included the heaviest lift of 1360 MT. Installation efficiency was significantly improved, with the time reduced to approximately 3.5 hours per beam. Notably, the operation marked the first use of a 2200 MT crawler crane over live railway tracks, a major engineering achievement given the complexity of spanning multiple active railway lines.
The project involves development of the 508.17 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR corridor in Maharashtra and Gujarat with an investment of Rs 1,080 billion. It is being implemented by a special purpose vehicle (SPV), named NHSRCL, incorporated by the Ministry of Railways (MoR) and the respective state governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat with an equity stake of 50:25:25 respectively.
