Indian Railways to develop railway coaching depot at Alandi station under Pune railway division

Indian Railways (IR) is likely to develop a railway coaching depot at Alandi station on the Pune-Satara section under the Pune railway division with an investment of Rs 970 million. Currently, the project is under proposal stage and is likely to be approved by the Railway Board (RB) soon.

The facility will function based on the Japanese model and will feature three maintenance pit lines of 600 m each, advanced washing system, inspection system, two stabling lines for train’s parking and sick line for defective coaches, among others. Further, it will facilitate maintenance and repair works of about 100 railway coaches per day which includes both Vande Bharat Express coaches and Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches.
