Steel spans installed at Bhandup West under Mumbai Metro Phase II Line 4 Project

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has successfully installed three large steel spans at Bhandup West under the Mumbai Metro Phase II Line 4 Project (Wadala-Ghatkopar-Teen Haat Naka (Thane)-Kasarwadavli).

The spans, together weighing 325 metric tonnes, were launched using eight heavy-duty cranes and 12 multi-axle vehicles. The operation required precise engineering and meticulous planning to minimise disruption in the densely populated suburban area.

The Line 4 of Mumbai Metro involves development of 32 km long metro network to connect Wadala-Ghatkopar-Teen Haat Naka (Thane)-Kasarwadavli in Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs 145.49 billion.
