Port development projects worth Rs 2.35 billion launched in Tamil Nadu

The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways unveiled infrastructure and digital initiatives worth Rs 2.35 billion at Chennai Port Authority and Kamarajar Port Limited to boost maritime-led growth in Tamil Nadu. Of the total outlay, Rs 1.29 billion covers projects at Chennai Port Authority and Rs 1.06 billion supports initiatives at Kamarajar Port Limited.

The foundation stone was laid for coastal revetment strengthening, a new firefighting pump house, and modernised hospital facilities at Chennai Port. A new enterprise business system was launched to digitise port operations, and an e-port clearance portal was also launched to streamline online clearances and reduce turnaround times. For Kamarajar Port Limited, the foundation stone was laid for a new boundary wall at the north-west boundary connecting the northern port access road and rehabilitated northern breakwater head was inaugurated.
