Indian Railways (IR) has approved Upgradation of Electric Traction System of Parbhani-Mudkhed Rail Line Section Project on July 28, 2026. It has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1.63 billion and includes associated power supply installation works.
The project involves upgradation of existing 1×25 KV electric traction system into 2×25 kV electric traction system between Parbhani and Mudkhed in the state of Maharashtra. It covers 164 track km (tkm) and is under Nanded Division of South Central Railway (SCR) zone. Besides, it is also part of the strategically important Highly Utilised Network (HUN) Route-9, connecting Ajmer-Indore-Khandwa-Akola-Purna-Mudkhed-Secunderabad-Mahbubnagar-Dhone.
