Lok Sabha passes the Indian Ports Bill 2025

The Lok Sabha has passed the Indian Ports Bill, 2025 on August 12, 2025. This bill replaces the outdated provisions of the Indian Ports Act, 1908, and aims to simplify port procedures and digitalise operations to enhance ease of doing business.

In addition, it seeks to improve port competitiveness through transparent tariff policies and better investment frameworks while also reducing the logistics costs by enhancing cargo movement and connectivity.
