The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has conducted a friction buffer test at the New Mansurpur Yard to ensure the safe operation of heavy-haul freight trains. The test involved a 6,500 metric tonne load moving at a speed of 11 km per hour (kmph).
It was designed to assess the capability of buffers to absorb and dissipate kinetic energy, prevent derailments, and protect wagons from structural damage by simulating high-impact scenarios such as sudden braking or the coupling of loaded wagons.
