The Union Government inaugurated the Jammu-Udhampur-Katra-Qazigund-Baramulla New Rail Line Project and the first two pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) station to Srinagar in Kashmir, passing via the Chenab and Anji Khad bridges, on June 6, 2025.
The Vande Bharat service will commence from Jammu Tawi station once the redevelopment work under the Amrit Bharat station scheme is completed. Additionally, the trains will halt at Banihal railway station.
