Centre inaugurates three rail sections in Bihar 

The Union Government has inaugurated three rail sections in Bihar. These are:

  • Supaul-Pipra section of the Supaul-Araria New Railway Line Project: The project involves laying of a 92 km long new railway line connecting Supaul and Araria in Bihar with an investment of Rs 16.05 billion. It will pass through Pipra, Triveniganj and Raniganj, and will serve as an alternative route for Kosi-Seemanchal railway line. It was proposed in the Railway Budget 2008-09 and was approved by the Railway Board in April 2008 at an estimated cost of Rs 3,044.1 million.
  • Hasanpur–Bithan section of the Sakri-Hasanpur New Railway Line Project: The project involves doubling of the existing 23.64 km long rail line between Sondalia and Champapukur in West Bengal, with an investment of Rs 7.35 billion.
  • Khagaria–Alauli section of the Khagaria-Kusheshwarsthan New Rail Line Project: The project involves construction of a 40 km new railway line between Khagaria and Kusheshwarsthan in Bihar at an investment of Rs 6.14 billion.
