The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has secured a Rs 1.03 billion incentive under the Jal Hi Amrit (JHA) scheme. Under the JHA scheme, of the total 30 sewage treatment plants (STPs) under BWSSB evaluated, 23 STPs bagged a five-star rating, six STPs received a four-star rating and one STP secured a three-star rating.
The civic body is second to Gujarat and Maharashtra in terms of the management of its high-quality STPs. BWSSB treats around 1,450 million litres per day (mld) of wastewater through 34 STPs across the city. This incentive amount is expected to be used for the modernisation of STP and the enhancement of water treatment infrastructure.
