Pune Ring Road Project sees major cost escalation to Rs 427.11 billion

The Maharashtra cabinet has approved a substantial cost escalation of Rs 203.75 billion for the Pune ring road project, raising the total project cost to Rs 427.11 billion. This increase comes three years after the initial project estimation. The Pune ring road (east) will span 72.33 km, connecting Urse (on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway) to Sortapwadi (on the Pune-Solapur road), with the estimated cost now standing at Rs 199.32 billion, up from Rs 101.59 billion in 2021. The cost of the Pune ring road (west) project, connecting Urse to Varve Budruk (on the Satara road), has risen from Rs 121.76 billion to Rs 227.78 billion. The increase in cost is due to rising material prices and additional expenses for land acquisition and temporary approach roads, with tenders based on current rates and executed on an engineering, procurement and construction basis.
