A trial run has been conducted under the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR) Water Supply Scheme phase II on October 19, 2024. The operations on reservoirs are likely to commence from first week of November 2024.
The project being implemented by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), is part of the Telangana Drinking Water Grid Project or Mission Bhagiratha project. It involved construction of 137 million litres per day (mld) storage reservoir and pipeline network of 2,865 km to address water shortage issues in municipalities within the ORR in Hyderabad in Telangana by providing drinking water supply to the localities formed on the city outskirts. The cost of the project is Rs 12 billion.
