Tunnel boring machine (TBM) Tunga (S-839B) has successfully achieved its fourth and final breakthrough at the Nagawara station, part of the 21.39 km long pink line of the Bangalore metro phase 2 project.
In February 2024, ITD Cementation deployed TBM S-839B from Kadugondanahalli (K.G. Halli) station for its concluding assignment. After boring a total of 938 meters, the TBM reached its breakthrough at the south cut and cover shaft of Nagawara station. With this milestone, of the total nine TBMs involved in the project, eight TBMs have completed their tunnelling works.
In November 2019, ITD Cementation secured contract for the package RT-04 for Rs 1.77 billion. This package covers a length of 4.59 km, linking Tannery Road to the North Ramp, with a completion deadline of 42 months. The scope of work under this package includes the construction of twin tunnels from Tannery Road to North Ramp, a ramp at Nagawara, and four stations.
