The Maharashtra Government has proposed the construction of the Konkan Expressway, a 376 km six-lane, access-controlled expressway, which is set to cut travel time between Mumbai and Goa to just six hours.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will oversee the project, which will run along the scenic Konkan coast. Preparation of the detailed project report is already underway, and the MSRDC has initiated the process of obtaining environmental clearance.
The expressway will connect Sindhudurg to Panvel (Navi Mumbai) via Raigad and Ratnagiri, featuring 14 interchanges. The project, estimated at Rs 680 billion, will cover 3,792 hectares of land, including 146 hectares of forest land.
