Network Planning Group evaluates the ICTP project at Galathea Bay in Great Nicobar

The Network Planning Group evaluated the proposed International Container Transshipment Port (ICTP) project at Galathea Bay in the Great Nicobar Island on August 21, 2024.

The project involves the development of a container transshipment terminal with a free trade warehousing zone at Greater Nicobar on a public-private partnership mode on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis including operation and maintenance in Andaman and Nicobar Island. The estimated cost and capacity of the entire project are Rs 443.13 billion and 16 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

The phase I of the project involves construction of breakwaters, dredging, reclamation, berths, storage areas, building and utilities, procurement and installation of equipment and development of a port colony with core infrastructure. The estimated cost and capacity are Rs 180 billion and 4 million TEUs. It is expected to be completed by 2028.
