KPTL-Ohitan JV wins contract for implementation of 24X7 Ludhiana Bulk Water Supply project

The joint venture (JV) of Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPTL) and Ohitan won a contract worth Rs 15.46 billion for implementation of the 24X7 Ludhiana Bulk Water Supply project in Punjab. Bids for the same were invited by the Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company in October 2022.

The work will be executed in two phases. In the first phase, a raw water system will be developed to draw water from the Sidhwan Canal. Along with that, a 580 million litres per day water treatment plant in Bilga Village, a treated water pumping main, a 173 km long transmission line and 137 overhead service reservoirs will be developed. In the second phase, distribution system, and house service connection will be laid and installation of meters will be carried out.

The project will be implemented on design, build, and operate and is likely to be completed in three years including three months of trial run and commissioning period. The operation and maintenance period for the same is 10 years.
