The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways announced the development of Tizu-Zunki river (National Waterways 101) for the economic development of Nagaland. Tizu and Zunki are the two most important waterways starting from Kiphire district of Nagaland and ending in Chindwin. Both the Inland Waterways Authority of India and the Transport Department of the government of Nagaland are likely to work together to study navigation feasibility.
Besides, initiatives will be taken to develop the immense tourism potential of Doyang river with community jetties as well as study feasibility of roll-on/roll-off passenger ferries.
