The national plant load factor (PLF) increased from 64.2 per cent in 2022-23 to 69.1 per cent in 2023-24. For the central, state and private sectors, the PLF stood 75.1 per cent, 64.7 per cent and 67.7 per cent respectively during 2023-24.
The total installed generation capacity stood at 442 GW as of April 2024. Thermal power had a share of 55 per cent followed by renewables, hydro and nuclear. In terms of sectors, the private sector dominated with a 52 per cent share followed by the state sector with 24 per cent and the central sector with 24 per cent.
