In a notable development, the union government has flagged off first crude oil tanker, Swarna Sindhu, from cluster-II fields of the KG-DWN-98/2 (KG-D5) block. The tanker would transport crude oil from the deep waters of the Bay of Bengal to Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited. Earlier, in January 2024, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) had commenced production of crude oil from cluster-II fields using floating production storage and offloading unit, Armada Sterling V. Currently, the field is producing around 12,000- 12,500 barrels per day (bpd).
