The Ayodhya Airport received an aerodrome licence in the public use category for all weather conditions from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on December 14, 2023. The airport has a runway of length 2.2 km with complete aeronautical ground lights (AGLs) infrastructure and is also supported by an instrument landing system (ILS) which would facilitate flights at night and during low visibility. IndiGo is to operate the inaugural flight to Ayodhya airport from the national capital scheduled for December 30, 2023, and commercial services are scheduled to commence from January 6, 2024. Ayodhya would be the 86th domestic destination of the airline.
