The Government of Tripura inaugurated a ground water treatment plant (WTP) at Ushabazar in Agartala, Tripura on December 5, 2023. The project involved the construction of 8 million litres per day (mld) WTP with supervisory control and data acquisition automation at an estimated cost of Rs 780 million. Besides, 16,224 households of Ushabazar will be connected to drinking water pipeline by 2025 under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 and some other households will be provided water supply under the Asia Development Bank funded North-Eastern Region Capital Cities Development Investment Program -Agartala Water Supply Project worth Rs 6 billion.
