Assam government selects design consultant for Assam IWT project

The Assam government has selected the consortium of Inros Lackener Se and Development Design Consultants Company Limited for the preparation of an integrated strategic development plan for the Assam inland water transport project. Bids for the project were invited in May 2017 and the work is expected to be completed in a period of 31 weeks. The scope of work involves providing an assessment of the current and projected demand in cross-river ferry traffic (including light vehicle traffic and daily commuters), transportation of freight to markets, and the sustainability of current financing arrangements for ferry operations; and proposing recommendations for improvements.
