Central government to build new railway line connecting Raxaul and Kathmandu

The central government has agreed to build a new railway line connecting Raxaul in Bihar with Kathmandu in Nepal. The project will be funded entirely by the Government of India, which is now expected to carry out a preparatory survey for the project in consultation with Nepal. The report is likely to be submitted by 2019, and this will be followed by the finalisation of the implementation and funding modalities of the project based on the detailed project report.
