Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) handled a record 834,697 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in September 2026, registering a 28.63 per cent increase over 648,907 TEUs in September 2025. The volume surpassed the previous monthly record of 831,956 TEUs achieved in August 2026. Total cargo handling increased by 18.39 per cent year on year to 9.9 million tonnes during the month.
During April-September 2026, JNPA handled 4.66 million TEUs, up 17.61 per cent from the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal recorded its highest-ever monthly throughput of 134,193 TEUs, while Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals handled 301,573 TEUs, remaining the port’s largest terminal by volume.
