Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL) has completed the season 1 of breakwater construction under Phase II of the Vizhinjam International Container Transhipment Terminal (ICTT) Project
The project involves the construction of a greenfield, deepwater international container transshipment terminal (ICTT) at Vizhinjam in Kerala on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer basis for a concession period of 40 years in three phases.
Phase I involved the construction of a container terminal of 800 meters (m), a cruise cum multipurpose terminal of 300 m, a navy berth of 500 m, a coast guard berth of 120 m, a post craft berth of 100 m, a fish landing berth of 500 m, and a breakwater of 3,180 m at a cost of Rs 88.67 billion.
Phase II involves the construction of an additional container terminal and breakwater of 400 m and 200 m, respectively at an estimated cost of Rs 100 billion.
Phase III involves the construction of a liquid terminal of 250 m, an additional container terminal, breakwater and cruise cum multipurpose terminal of 800 m, 700 m, and 200 m, respectively.
