The Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) has granted in-principle approval to the Ministry of Railways (MoR) for six railway projects in the states of Odisha, Telangana and Jharkhand, covering 640 km at an estimated cost of around Rs 180 billion under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The concession period for the projects will be 50 years (including construction period). These are:
- Budhapank-Luburi New Railway Line Project (MCRL Outer Corridor) involves laying a 112.56 km long new rail line between Budhapank and Luburi via Tentuloi in the state of Odisha at an estimated cost of Rs 48.51 billion. The proposed alignment facilitates the transportation of coal from Talcher Coal Fields.
- Managaluru-Ramagundam New Broad Gauge Railway Line Project involves laying of a 207.8 km long new rail line between Mangaluru in Karnataka and Ramagundam in Telangana at an estimated cost of Rs 58.18 billion.
- Tikiri-Kutrumali New Railway Line Project spans 49 km and aims to improve transportation of bauxite ore from the Kutrumali and Sijumali mines at an estimated cost of Rs 15.76 billion in Kalahandi and Rayagada districts of Odisha.
- Balaram-Putagdia-Tentuloi New Railway Line Project, part of the inner corridor, under Phase-II of Mahanadi Coal Limited runs for 49.58 km and will further strengthen freight evacuation capacity in the region at an estimated cost of Rs 17.8 billion in the state of Odisha.
- Jajpur Road-Dhamara New Rail Line Project under Purvodaya vision involves construction of a 101.26 km broad gauge line between Jajpur Keonjhar Road and Dhamra Port at an estimated cost of Rs 42.36 billion. The project will have ten stations between the originating and destination stations and will provide direct rail connectivity to Maa Biraja temple, one of the oldest religious Shakti Peethas at Jajpur Town, famous Shaivite shrine of Baba Akhandalamani at Aradi in Bhadrak and Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara in the state of Odisha.
- Pakur-Godda New Broad Gauge Railway Line Project involves construction of a 126.52 km long new rail line between Pakur (Nagarnabi) to Godda in the state of Jharkhand at an estimated cost of Rs 54 billion.
