Government is investing over Rs 1.39 trillion to ensure broadband connectivity in every village, says communication minister

According to the union minister for communications and development of the north eastern region, the government is investing over Rs 1.39 trillion to ensure broadband connectivity in every village, with more than half of the allocation earmarked for maintaining the optical fibre network over the next decade.

He also highlighted that over the next five to ten years, India could see an additional economic opportunity of $1.5-2 trillion contributing to the gross domestic product.

Further, he stated that India has been able to manage the current global situation due to its mature democratic framework, diplomatic approach, diversification and timely decision-making.

He noted that Indian vessels continue to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to reach domestic shores despite ongoing geopolitical tensions. The minister added that over the past four weeks, the prime minister has established a structured mechanism to address complex challenges and turn them into opportunities.
