Indian Railways achieves freight loading of 1,670 mt during FY 2025-26

Indian Railways (IR) has achieved cumulative freight loading of 1,670 million tonnes (mt) during the financial year (FY) 2025-26, an increase of 3.25 per cent over the previous financial year. Moreover, a total of 29.18 million wagons were handled, which is an increase of 4.56 per cent over previous year.

Besides, commodity-wise loading includes 818.6 mt of coal, 190.12 mt of iron ore, 133.71 mt of other goods, 157.17 mt of cement, 93.69 mt of containers, 76.88 mt of pig iron and steel, 68.01 mt of fertilisers, 51.7 mt of petroleum oil and lubricants (POL), 48.75 mt of foodgrains, and 31.31 mt of raw material for steel plants (RMSP).

The zone-wise loading includes 286.26 mt for East Coast Railway (ECoR), 261.25 mt for South East Central Railway (SECR), 210.41 mt for South Eastern Railway (SER), 203.42 mt for East Central Railway (ECR), 147.87 mt for South Central Railway (SCR), 105.54 mt for Western Railway (WR), 101.66 mt for Eastern Railway (ER), 79.34 mt for Central Railway (CR), 58.07 mt for West Central Railway (WCR), 52.46 mt for South Western Railway (SWR), 52.26 mt for Northern Railway (NR), 42.13 mt for Southern Railway (SR), 30.53 mt for North Western Railway (NWR), 20.97 mt for North Central Railway (NCR), 11.39 mt for Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), 3.95 mt for North Eastern Railway (NER), and 2.43 mt for Konkan Railway (KR).
