Two stretches under Delhi Metro Project Phase IV inaugurated

The Union Government inaugurated two stretches under the Delhi Metro Project Phase IV on March 8, 2026. The stretches are:

  • The 12.3 km Majlis Park – Maujpur Babarpur stretch. It has stations at Majlis Park, Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Soorghat, Nanaksar-Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and Maujpur Babarpur.
  • The 9.92 km Deepali Chowk – Majlis Park stretch. It has stations at Deepali Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Uttar Pitampura-Prashant Vihar, Haiderpur Village, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalswa and Majlis Park.

Delhi Metro Phase IV Project involves development of 112.4 km long metro rail network comprising six corridors with an investment of Rs 468 billion. The three corridors to be developed on priority basis are Maujpur-Mukundpur (12.31 km), Janakpuri West-RK Ashram (29.26 km) and Aerocity-Tughlakabad (23.62 km). Whereas the other three corridors approved in 2024 by the central government are Inderlok-Indraprastha (12.37 km), Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block (8.38 km) and Rithala-Narela-Kundli (26.46 km).

Besides, Centre also laid the foundation stone for Delhi Metro Project Phase VA on the same day.

Delhi Metro Rail Project Phase VA comprises three corridors spanning 16.07 km and entails investment of Rs 120.14 billion. The project comprises 13 stations (10 underground and 3 elevated). The corridors are as follows: RK Asham Marg – Indraprashta corridor spanning 9.91 km and with stations at R.K Ashram Marg, Shivaji Stadium, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial – High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam, and Indraprastha; Aerocity-Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal 1 corridor spanning 2.26 km and with station at Aerocity and Tughlakabad-Kalindi Kunj corridor spanning 3.9 km and with stations at Sarita Vihar Depot, Madanpur Khadar, and Kalindi Kunj.
