Centre starts land acquisition in Panipat for Delhi-Ambala Third and Fourth Rail Line Project

The Union Government commenced land acquisition of around 8.5 hectares (ha) in Panipat district, Haryana for the Delhi-Ambala Third and Fourth Rail Line Project. It covers 6.1 ha in seven villages of Samalkha tehsil and 2.3 ha in six villages of Panipat tehsil.

Moreover, the project also includes construction of 79 rail under bridges (RUBs), two rail over bridges (ROBs), Signaling and telecommunication (S&T) work among others, and will generate an additional freight loading capacity of 24 million tonnes (mt).

The project involves laying a 198 km long third and fourth rail line from Delhi to Ambala via Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra in the states of Delhi and Haryana at an estimated cost of Rs 59.83 billion.
