Ministry of Railways (MoR) approved various projects on February 9, 2026. These are:
- Barbendra-Damrughutu Doubling and Damrughutu-Bokaro Third Rail Line Project: It entails developing third and fourth railway lines between Barbendra and Damrughutu, covering 51.76 km at an estimated cost of Rs 8.15 billion in West Bengal and Jharkhand.
- Rajpura Bypass Line Project: It involves construction of a 13.46 km long bypass line at a cost of Rs 4.12 billion in Punjab.
- Alappuzha-Ambalapuzha Doubling Project: It involves doubling of the 12.66 km long rail line at a cost of Rs 3.24 billion in Kerala.
- Palakkad Town-Parli Bypass Line Project: It involves construction of a 1.8 km long bypass line at a cost of Rs 1.64 billion in Kerala. The project will eliminate engine reversal at Palakkad Junction, reduce passenger and freight train detention, improve punctuality and ease congestion.
- Irugur-Podanur Doubling Project: It involves doubling of the 10.77 km long rail line at a cost of Rs 2.77 billion in Tamil Nadu.
Besides, the ministry has also approved implementation of Electronic Interlocking (EI) at 34 stations across Northern Railway (NR) at an estimated cost of Rs 4.21 billion. The works include 21 stations in the Delhi division and 13 stations in the Ambala division.
