A number of significant road construction projects around Gujarat have received approval from the Centre for Rs 10.78 billion from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).
The state government will use the funds to assist 41 road projects totalling 564.57 km. In order to improve road quality, safety, and connection, the projects involve widening, strengthening, resurfacing, and building structures.
The renewed investment is in line with the Center’s PM Gati Shakti plan, and focusses on developing a strong national road network to improve mobility and speed up logistics efficiency.
It consists of 11 widening projects on state highways covering 229.20 km in Patan, Kutch, Banaskantha, Kheda, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Valsad, Amreli, Jamnagar, and Vadodara which have been allocated a total of Rs 6.36 billion.
In Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Tapi, Navsari, Devbhumi Dwarka, Surendranagar, Amreli, Surat, and Jamnagar, 23 strengthening and resurfacing projects totalling 335.37 km would be funded with Rs 4.08 billion.
In the districts of Tapi, Surat, and Dang, an extra Rs 0.33 billion has been approved for seven structural projects.
The initiatives will strengthen Gujarat’s economic momentum by greatly increasing transportation efficiency, cutting travel times, and supporting industrial and agricultural supply chains.
