Southern Railway (SR) has approved the detailed design of a 200 m long and 16 m wide new tunnel to be built at Balaramapuram in connection with the Trivandrum-Kanyakumari Rail Doubling Project.
The work is expected to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 300 million in around 8-12 months.
The project involves doubling of an 86.56 km long rail line from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of Rs 37.85 billion.
