Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) is set to establish a 10 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of about Rs 66.75 billion.
The project, which has been cleared by the state investment promotion board and is expected to be the largest ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in India.The facility will be developed at the IFFCO Kisan Special Economic Zone, where the Andhra Pradesh government has earmarked around 200 acres of land, including 120 acres for the initial phase and 80 acres for future expansion. The ingots and wafers produced at the plant will serve as critical inputs for solar cells, modules and semiconductor applications.
