National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited achieves breakthrough of 1.5 km long mountain tunnel in Palghar district in Maharashtra

National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) achieved the final breakthrough of a 1.5 km long mountain tunnel located between the Virar and Boisar station in Palghar district in connection with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (HSR) Corridor Project.

It is the second tunnel breakthrough in Maharashtra, as the first 5 km long underground tunnel between Thane and Banda-Kurla Complex (BKC) was completed in September 2025.

The project involves development of the 508.17 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR corridor in Maharashtra and Gujarat with an investment of Rs 1,080 billion.
