Titagarh Naval Systems Limited (TNSL), a subsidiary of Titagarh Rail Systems, has received in-principle approval from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for the brownfield expansion of its shipyard at Falta, West Bengal.
The project, with an investment of around Rs 6.1 billion, cleared under the Shipbuilding Development Scheme, includes around Rs 1.29 billion in capital assistance from the government for plant and machinery.
The expansion aims to strengthen shipbuilding infrastructure and enhance manufacturing capabilities, enabling TNSL to cater to defence, commercial, and export markets. It is aligned with national initiatives such as Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and the National Shipbuilding Mission, which seek to boost domestic maritime capacity and global competitiveness.
