A validation flight was conducted at the upcoming Bhogapuram Airport in Andhra Pradesh by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport on January 4, 2026.
The validation flight was operated by an aircraft of Air India. The exercise assessed the airport’s airside infrastructure, navigational aids, runway systems, and overall operational readiness in line with regulatory requirements laid down by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The validation is a key step in the process of securing an aerodrome license and a mandatory prerequisite before the start of flight operations.
The airport is currently more than 90 per cent complete.
