East Coast Railway installs advanced safety system on tunnel-7 of Khurda Road-Bolangir New Line Project

East Coast Railway (ECoR) has equipped a 1.9 km long T-7 tunnel located between Purunakatak and Charichhak in Boudh district with an advanced safety infrastructure in accordance with prescribed railway standards under the Khurda Road-Bolangir New Line Project.

The key features include high-capacity ventilation, fire-fighting arrangements, lighting and automatic emergency lighting, public address, CCTV surveillance, SOS emergency calling and a linear heat detection system.

The project involves construction of 289 km long broad gauge railway line from Khurda road to Bolangir under Khurda division of ECoR, aiming at connecting Western Odisha with Eastern Odisha at an estimated cost of Rs 37.91 billion.
