The route alignment has been finalised for the Mumbai Metro Phase III Line 8 Project Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) – Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA)).
The metro will enter Navi Mumbai via Mankhurd, passing through Vashi, Sanpada, and Juinagar. Then, it will head to Nerul, with stops near Dr. D.Y. Patil University and Wonders Park, before going to Ulwe via Apollo Hospital and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Headquarters.
The stations planned under the project are Vashi, Sanpada, Juinagar, Nerul Sector-1, Nerul, Seawoods, Belapur, Sagar Sangam, Targhar/Moha, NMIA West and NMIA Terminal 2. The last two stations will be situated inside the airport premises.
The project involves development of 35 km long elevated metro rail network from CSMIA to NMIA in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai with 11 stations at an estimated cost of Rs 230 billion on public private partnership model.
