The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) in Maharashtra was inaugurated on October 8, 2025, built at a cost of around Rs 196.5 billion.
The initial phase of the airport features a single runway and terminal with a passenger handling capacity of 20 million passengers per annum (mppa). Upon completion of all phases, the airport spanning 1,160 hectares would have a capacity to handle 90 mppa and 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo, feature multiple terminals, runways, and a dedicated cargo terminal.
The airport would also feature an automated people mover, and serve as a multimodal hub with connectivity to roads, metro, suburban rail networks, and waterways.
The airport is set to serve as a dual airport system for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region complementing the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).
