Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas inaugurates IGL Genesis Technologies Limited’s world-class smart gas meter manufacturing facility

The Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr Hardeep Singh Puri, inaugurated the state-of-the-art Smart Gas Meter Manufacturing Facility of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) Genesis Technologies Limited (IGTL) situated in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Notably, IGTL’s facility is Asia’s first fully automatic integrated plant.

Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted the strategic role of the facility, stating, “This world-class smart gas meter manufacturing plant not only strengthens India’s journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat but also opens up significant export opportunities for Indian industry. It will help make IGL and other city gas distribution (CGD) companies self-reliant in sourcing critical metering infrastructure from IGTL, while also creating a platform for India to serve global markets.”

The inauguration was done at IGL Corporate Office in New Delhi, and was attended by Secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr Pankaj Jain, and senior officials from Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), IGL and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). IGTL Directors, Mr Sanjeev Bhatia, Mr Vikas Garg, Mr Deepchand Jain, and Dr Sundeep Dhawan also graced the occasion.

Commenting on the launch, Dr Anshumali Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer of IGTL, said,
“We are proud to commission this facility with the support of our partners IGL, GAIL, BPCL, and Vikas Life Care Limited. This milestone ensures India’s domestic needs are met with world-class meters, while also allowing us to compete globally as an exporter of advanced smart gas metering technologies.”

IGTL is a joint venture of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), India’s largest city gas distribution company, a subsidiary of Vikas Life Care Limited, a BSE/NSE-listed entity. IGL itself is promoted by GAIL and BPCL and government of Delhi the largest natural gas companies in India.
