Q: How has Belden’s journey in India been? What are the key focus areas?
Our commitment to India is both deep and strategic. In 2018, we inaugurated our first plant in Pune, followed by a second facility in Kochi in 2021. These manufacturing capabilities are complemented by our Innovation Center and Global Engineering and Technical Support Centers, all based in India. These are not just symbolic investments — they enable faster delivery, localized solutions, and closer collaboration with customers.
At Belden, we are deeply committed to enabling robust, secure connectivity across India’s critical infrastructure projects. Most recently, we had the privilege of contributing to the newly operational Yellow Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro, for which we worked closely with Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited. These are projects with immense network complexity, and our goal is to support customers in building strong, resilient communication backbones that withstand both operational and security demands.
Our state-of-the-art facility in Bangalore is at the heart of this mission. Here, we are not just delivering products — we are solving real-world networking challenges that come with large-scale deployments, especially in areas like transportation, power, and manufacturing. Our core focus remains helping customers deploy networks that are not only reliable but also future-ready.
Q: Digital connectivity is transforming Indian businesses. How is this transformation shaping sectors like manufacturing, warehousing, and smart infrastructure?
Digital connectivity is fundamentally redefining how businesses in India operate. In manufacturing, there is a clear shift toward predictive maintenance and real-time automation, which helps improve decision-making and reduce downtime. In warehousing, real-time tracking and operational efficiency are paramount. Smart infrastructure, too, demands high levels of reliability and safety.
All these changes underscore one fact: the backbone of modern operations must be secure, scalable, and responsive. That is exactly where Belden steps in — helping businesses connect seamlessly to data, devices, and each other.
Q: What kind of challenges are encountered in complex infrastructure projects?
Anytime we work with critical infrastructure — whether metros, power grids, or industrial facilities — the challenges are multifaceted. The biggest shift today is the convergence of previously siloed systems. Devices that once operated in isolation are now network-connected, which introduces new layers of complexity. In such environments, latency and uptime are non-negotiable. For example, in metro systems, network availability must be under 50 milliseconds to ensure zero disruption. That is a razor-thin margin. Our role is to help businesses design networks that minimize downtime, maximize performance, and remain secure even as they scale.
Businesses today need more than just connectivity — they need an integrated, secure, and simplified approach to networking. That is where Belden’s expertise plays a vital role. We help businesses bridge these gaps and build a secure digital foundation.
Q: How is Belden helping Indian enterprises become more competitive, resilient, and future-ready?
We are enabling Indian businesses to run proof-of-concepts (POCs), test networks before real deployment, and tailor solutions that meet specific industry needs. Every customer has unique needs, and a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesnot work — especially in a diverse and fast-evolving market like India. That is why we focus on a consultative engagement model. We spend time understanding our customer’s operations, often conducting on-ground audits to assess their network architecture.
We then co-develop solutions that address their exact challenges — whether it is integrating legacy OT devices into modern IT networks or simplifying a multi-vendor ecosystem. Many OT environments, for example, consist of devices that ‘speak’ different languages. Bringing them onto a unified platform is not trivial. But it is essential — and it is where we bring in both our global experience and local expertise.
Q: Looking ahead, how do you see the future of connectivity evolving in India over the next few years? How is Belden preparing for this?
Connectivity will only grow in importance. As India advances in areas like Industry 4.0, smart infrastructure, and digital governance, the need for secure and agile networks will multiply. Sectors like manufacturing, transportation, power, and utilities will all see a dramatic increase in digitization.
At Belden, we are preparing for this future by strengthening our local ecosystem — from manufacturing to R&D and technical support. Our goal is to be a trusted transformation partner for Indian businesses, helping them accelerate their digital journey with secure, resilient, and scalable connectivity.
We are investing locally to bring world-class connectivity solutions closer to our customers in India.
