Welspun Michigan Engineers Limited (WMEL), a subsidiary of Welspun Enterprises Limited (WEL), in joint venture with Aaradhyaa and Company (WMEL-ANC JV) has been awarded a prestigious contract by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for upgrading the Haji Ali storm water pumping station in G/S Ward, Mumbai. WMEL holds a 75 per cent stake in the joint venture.
The contract valued at Rs 3.28 billion (with GST), includes the upgradation of the storm water pumping station, along with complete mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and automation systems and civil repair works. The project is scheduled for completion within 18 months (excluding monsoons). Additionally, the contract encompasses a comprehensive O&M phase for 15 years.
This contract is one of the largest projects secured by WMEL in the pumping station segment and is the second pumping station order secured by the company in recent times, following the February 2025 contract for the design and construction of the Mogra storm water pumping station in Mumbai’s K/W Ward.
The outstanding order book of WMEL as on February 28, 2025 was Rs 27.07 billion (excluding GST). With the addition of the Haji Ali storm water pumping station order of Rs 2.09 billion (75 per cent of the contract value, excluding GST), the outstanding order book now stands at Rs 29.15 billion.
